The Russia Stock Market (MICEX) increased to 1485.39 Index points in June from 1432.03 Index points in May of 2014. Stock Market in Russia averaged 879.02 Index points from 1997 until 2014, reaching an all time high of 1969.91 Index points in December of 2007 and a record low of 18.53 Index points in October of 1998. Russia's stock does not do very well, having many contractions and recessions. Between 2006 and 2010, Russia's stock took a very big fall, due to the fact that not many workers were producing in the factories, and lowering their worth. The GDP most likely also fell. After that, the business cycle has been put in place again, and is going steady, with expansions, peaks, contractions, and recessions. Right now, Russia's stock is low but still going at a steady rate.
The Russian banking sector continued to develop strongly in 2012. The Russian banking sector increased by 19% that year. That is a slightly weaker figure than the 23% increase reported in 2011. At the same time, the penetration of the banking sector, which is the ratio between the bank's total assets and GDP, increased from 75% in 2011 to 79% in 2012. The banking system is still not playing a huge role in the GDP, however it is growing.
