In terms of territory, Russia is the world's largest country. With a total area of 17,075,200 kilometers (6,592,735 square miles), Russia covers about one-eighth of the world's land surface. Russia is 60 percent larger than the world's second-largest country, Canada. The current population of Russia is estimated to be about 146,001,176. The country has a lot of natural resources including major deposits of oil, coal, natural gas, many strategic minerals, diamonds and timber. The coast also includes a wide array of fish, oil, and natural gasses. Russia's climate is also very extreme, preventing it from entering the market in agriculture. Russia has only 8% of arable land. Russia depends heavily on industrial production and imports a lot of its food. Because of this, Russia does not play a part in the agricultural market.
